Tasty? Or Bad Taste?

“But what about the children?!”

Words mean different things than they did when I was a youth. “Retard” for example, has been in the news a lot lately. (I love how it seems to be tied to Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.) In my school days, retard was an actual medical term. It also meant you were a dumbass. The two weren’t mutually exclusive.

Businesses have changed their name because of political correctness. I’m lookin’ at you, Little Black Sambo’s.

Food products have had to change their names as well, but a few borderline offensive things remain: Spic & Span? The cleaning lady oughta love that. Cheese Nips? Not a big seller amongst Asians. Could it be the name?

And now? We have an all-out affront to little people everywhere! Can’t we come up with a nicer name for these tiny cucumbers?

I feel like calling Safeway and asking if they have these in stock …
